This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are seeking community support to purchase STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) resources and materials for our 6th-8th grade students who are currently 1-4 years behind their grade-level peers. Despite this academic gap, these students are receiving significant, individualized instruction through a modified general education curriculum. Our students are experiencing remarkable growth in both academic performance and behavior, thanks to the use of research-based strategies and resources. However we would like to incorporate more hands-on STEAM activities into our daily curriculum.

While our students are making great strides in their learning, they face unique challenges that require tailored support.

There remains a critical need for hands-on, tactile learning experiences to further enhance students' engagement and deepen their understanding of key concepts. By incorporating STEAM activities, students will have the opportunity to:

- Deepen their understanding of complex concepts through hands-on exploration.

- Build critical thinking skills by solving real-world problems through science, engineering, and mathematics.

- Engage creatively through art-based projects that allow for expression and innovation.

- Improve social and emotional skills through collaborative, group-based activities.

These activities will not only support academic growth but also promote student confidence and foster a sense of achievement.
