Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a diverse group of 8th graders an integrated curriculum that includes English Language Arts, History, and Spanish.
The students in our classroom are investigating the intention of all types of artists: musicians, writers, filmmakers, actors, visual artists, and photographers. We are dabbling in all of these art forms. Currently, we are exploring digital photography. We have some digital cameras, but we can't afford the batteries, paper, and ink.
We simply need a battery charger, some AA rechargeable batteries, and some photo paper. Then we're ready to roll. These students already know the terminology - long shot, close-up, medium shot, high angle, low key lighting, etc. They just need to put the theories into practice. This grant literally gives them the "power" to take their pictures.
This project is one that students will remember for years to come. In addition, it is socially responsible. This proposal helps our students study photography and go green! It is a win-win-win proposal!
