This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently have a group of 22 fabulous second graders in a dual language classroom. They live in a low income, high poverty stricken inner city community in northern New Jersey. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom due to their socioeconomic status and their varying linguistic abilities. Despite this, they are ready, willing and excited to learn! They tackle challenges and strive to do their best. They are resilient, respectful, and hardworking students.

My Project

We are living through a historic time; and because of it, we are trying very hard to continue educating our students. We are all working together to reach students virtually. Having a document camera would greatly assist me as students receive remote instruction.

My second grade bilingual students would greatly benefit from a document camera, and I plan to use it in all content areas as a tool to create deeper discussion in our daily lessons.

We need this tool so that the students will be able to see documents better than holding a piece of paper up to the screen. A document camera will help clarify direct instruction better virtually. I would normally use a Smart Board in the classroom. A document camera is a virtual essential for students receiving instruction remotely. With my district trying to meet the needs of all students, a document camera would aid in this capacity.

A document camera would enhance the virtual learning experience. My lessons would be more engaging, interactive, and memorable. While this could never replace in-person, one-on-one instruction, this can allow for needed instruction to happen. It is important that students can see and hear the instruction clearly. It is important to continue to build learning partnerships, and this document camera checks on the boxes. Students will see instruction through the use of this document camera.
