This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The youth in South Phoenix has experienced a great deal of struggle since the worldwide pandemic, COVID-19. These students did not have access to in-person learning for an entire year and are working diligently to get caught up each day. Our teachers at CSM continue to provide support to our students through various engaging methods of teaching, but are lacking one thing to take their instruction to the next level, document cameras. If provided with document cameras our 6th-8th grade teaching teams would not only be able to provide high quality instruction, but also provide students with the opportunity to watch a teacher's methods up close, to build their knowledge and understanding. Not to mention, it would open the door for students to showcase their work to classmates and explain their methods of understanding, reinforcing student learning and building a classroom culture of acceptance and achievement.
