My students need a virtual reality headset to integrate technology into my classroom that can take them around the world to places they'd otherwise never experience!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are AWESOME! I teach at a school of about 850 students ages 1st-5th in a Title I district. About 95% are on free and reduced lunches, 100% receive free breakfast. I have the privilege of teaching the entire campus as the art teacher, so I get to watch my students grow up from year to year. In art, we are a materials only class that typically doesn't have materials that get to be reused. Money is tight, and every bit helps!
My Project
I am constantly teaching my students about the history of other artists and cultures. Most countries I teach them about are places they've never heard of before. I'd like to integrate more technology in my classroom, and this virtual reality headset would give the students the opportunity to actually VISIT the countries our artists are from! We've actually played with this idea before with Google Earth, but the district's computer couldn't quite keep up with the application. This headset I picked is one that is for on the go, so I don't have to hook it up to a gaming console, and the students can be completely interactive with their surroundings. I hope to give them a better appreciation for different cultures with this headset.
