Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I serve a Title I school located in New Britain, CT. My classroom is full of energetic, curious, and diverse ESL students! Each morning my students arrive at school with a smile, eager to learn English. All of my students receive free lunch. Despite hardships at home, my students are bubbly and optimistic about their future. They hope to become literate in English and overcome all the barriers of coming to a new country.

Showing representation of all ethnicities and cultures is essential in a classroom library.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are not just buzzwords. We need to improve by having classroom libraries reflect the student body. Please help me to do this.

I want these books to spark my students' confidence, joy, empowerment, and success. When my students go to the bookshelf, I want them to see themselves portrayed as characters.
