My Students
My students have autism, learning and language disabilities, and emotional disabilities. Some are from lower economic homes. They come to school everyday and are eager to learn. Many of them have sensory issues and require many different therapies throughout their day. These include OT, PT, Counseling and Speech. They are talented and enjoy life each and every day. The face challenges that they seem to overcome with persistence. They face new challenges with a smile and joy for life's journey.
My Project
My students will be able to make use of color worksheets and visual supports. Often when teaching children to use their communication devices, it is helpful to provide color visual supports to teach where to access the specific symbols on their devices that look exactly like the symbols on their devices. However, without access to a color printer, this support is impossible. In addition, using colorful worksheets helps increase attention and motivation towards learning and this product will be beneficial to enhance their learning experience within my speech and Language sessions. My students who have autism and attentional difficulties will benefit from seeing their work in color.
