My Project
Working as a special education teacher means my students learn in very different ways and require extra special attention and time to learn new skills. These students were already struggling in multiple academic areas before the pandemic. Unfortunately, these kids are struggling and stressing more than ever due to school closures, and quarantines.
Their special differences make them a hard working group of students who want to do well and improve their academic skills.
As they get older and can see their differences, they start to lose their confidence in the classroom. The leveled readers will ensure my students can read at a level that is not too difficult but still challenges them all year long, the writing journals will provide my students with much needed practice with the use of proper paragraph structure, punctuation, and grammar, The readers theater books provide an engaging way to practice their reading fluency, the mutiplication/division kit will help my students better understand and use these processes, the finding evidence kits will help my students with a much needed skill of citing text evidence to improve their comprehension, and the reading/writing folder games provide the added independent practice (or spiraling) that these students need.
The resources I am requesting will help me bring some engaging and fun ways to learn and practice new skills into my learning center. I hope to make my room a fun and productive place for them to learn and feel successful.
