This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our eighth graders will be exploring what home means. In this ever-growing global society, we need to expose them to what is beyond our front door.
Reading this book will help students to empathize and see themselves in others, finding similarities in our struggles.
This kind of literature written as prose will help prepare students to analyze text structure and theme at the high school level. While academic, it also teaches about what home means, especially when our situations uproot us from where we are born. Our young adults are ready to learn more about who our peers are in this global society.
