Help me give my students the opportunity to see life at amazing levels. My students are hungry for knowledge and while we are in a Science Readers, I want them to see the world for the first time!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from an extremely low-income/high poverty area within our district. They face many challenges both in and out of the classroom: lack of support, food, clothing, and resources to help them further their education. Despite the multiple challenges they have, I am continually looking to provide them with meaningful and creative learning experiences.
My ultimate goal is to nurture and stimulate their journeys of lifelong learning and to create opportunities for them to become successful in the future.
My Project
I am planning to introduce leaves (and other living materials) to my students by letting them explore with the option of microscopic vision. They will undoubted be amazed by what their eyes will see with microscopes. My students have never actually seen the powerful tool before and I am very excited to see the discovery in their eyes. The microspopes will allow them to use Metacognition and challenge their preconceptions about the workings of life. With guidance they will use thei microscopes to see accurate information and then write and draw what they see. I am so excited for them - hopefully! Smile!
