This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom are diverse learners with emotional disabilities, special education and English language learners. We are in a community that receives Title 1 services. The socioeconomic community is a majority of Hispanic backgrounds. Many of them speak English as a second language. They’re limited in their knowledge of specific subjects.
Visual learning is a must!
A Projector will be very beneficial to accessing the academic standards for grade 2. For some it will encourage extended thinking and for others it will provide a first time experience. The projector will enable me to model different steps, strategies, diagrams and time lines. The students can come up to show and model their thinking process in mathematics for the rest of the class. Also, they will also be able to read along with a projected text.
My Project
The document camera will enable my students to see a visual model of specific information needed for them to learn the second grade curriculum. It is very important for them to see what they are learning. Seeing is believing for them. We have a very busy classroom with learners that need to have a visual for them to read along, copy and model what they are learning projecting for all to see. This ensures we all see the same things and can discuss what we are noticing, for those students that can’t express verbally what they see, they can present it.
