My students need an Elmo document camera to have access to the latest technology. This would enable us to to reduce the waste from plastic transparencies we use with the overhead, share scientific findings from labs more easily, and allow me to perform demonstrations more easily
Do you like to use technology? When you go to meetings, sit in conferences or go to events, do you like to be able to see what is happening? My students and I like to be able to see what is going on, use new technological materials, be up to date with technology and engaged while we are learning.
My science students attend a rural high school in South Carolina.
They are great teenagers who have big hopes and dreams of college and their future. However, we are in an area where there is little industry and business to support our schools. The business that are here are local small town businesses who get hit by everyone for donations (band, yearbook, athletics, Spanish Club, French Club, Beta Club, National Honor Society and the list goes on). The district and school provide as much as they can for the teacher but you can only spend a dollar once and every teacher and student has needs in this school. We have a 73% free and reduced lunch rate at the high school but 83% in the district, which means the high school probably has a higher rate, students are just not filling out the paperwork. My students need your help to become prepared for college.
My Project
Having an Elmo Document Camera to go with our LCD projector will allow my students to see up to date technology to be prepared for college and the real world. Your donation will also allow my class to reduce the waste from plastic transparencies we use with the overhead, share their scientific findings from labs more easily, and allow me to perform demonstrations more easily for students. Students will achieve higher scores and become better scientists when they can compare their lab work to their peers and discuss conclusions. Today, I have to use an overhead projector with paper copies of student work converted to ink jet printer transparencies which takes time and money is wasted. In addition, I keep both the LCD projector and overhead close by and switch between the two when students ask a question and need a diagram drawn out, taking up valuable instructional time. Please help my students become better equipped for the 21st century with your donation.
I can visualize the discussion that are going to occur when students are able to share the results of the Egg Lab.
I already see how I can help students and they can help one another make revisions on their work using the ELMO document camera. Please help my students become the great scientists they can be with your donation to this project.
