This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Representation matters. Students are delighted and excited when they find books with characters that look like them and have similar life experiences. One of my goals is to have books continually representing our diverse student populations.

Making the library inclusive and representative of our diverse population helps students appreciate their own culture and understand others.

Students want to see themselves in literature. I have noticed an increase in students, especially Muslim students, searching for books with similar characters and experiences. I like to continue providing and offering my students various books that showcase their culture.
