My Students
My students are 9 and 10-year-old beautiful children. They are just starting fifth grade and on the way to entering a new era; junior high school.

They are wonderful people with varied talents and together they work amazingly well to help each other reach goals. Our school is an inner-city, multicultural, low-income, Title I school. I hope to help them improve their lives.
My Project
What do plants need to grow? Just like people, there are many different types of plants and each type of plant has different needs. However, the basic needs remain the same. My class is a mix of fully remote and blended learning students. Even those students who are fully remote can participate in this hands-on activity. To achieve the best and most engaging learning outcomes for all students, each child's needs must be addressed and met in an engaging way.
Hands-on resources support learning differences and will help students with varied learning abilities.
Together we will grow TickleMe plants (AKA: Mimosa pudica sensitive plant)that respond to the slightest touch by closing up their leaves. Those students who are fully remote will receive their kit in the mail. The other blended learning students will receive their kit when their cohort is in-person. All students will grow their plants at home and share this learning experience with their family members as well as their classmates virtually. It will be a special experience for students to plant the seeds, nurture them daily through the stages of growth, and watch these amazing plants respond to a touch by closing up!! With your help, my students will have a magical experience of learning and exploration!
