Our school is for students with special needs who, because of severe emotional and behavioral issues, have not been able to learn successfully at their regular schools. They learn a little bit differently and are a little more difficult to engage due to their tremendous emotional needs. We work hard to be able to accommodate their differences, correct their behaviors with gentle guidance and keep them in school and in class!
Our school provides a safe place where students can make mistakes, learn coping skills, and master problem-solving strategies while continuing to be exposed to the district-wide academic curriculum.
Our daily goal is to keep our students in the learning environment where they can experience academic success. The ultimate goal is to give them the coping strategies they need to be able to be successful in all areas of their lives. We strive to give them the kind of high-quality lessons and activities that will authentically engage them in rigorous learning.
My Project
We have a marvelous and very popular school container garden and we want a way for the students who love gardening and growing to be able to continue to experience it at home.
Students love working in the school garden, this project will let them take the garden home with them by sending them seeds and growing kits!
It is going to be a challenging new school year to say the least! Our goal is to make it as filled with learning experiences as possible - and that means sending the school projects home to the students. Students love to be a part of the school garden, with this project we will be able to send them kits so that they can grow seeds from home and then share the results when we video chat! I can imagine their excitement at receiving the various growing kits and how we will work remotely, as a group, to make this growing project successful.
