My students need a chick incubator and accessories. We do a gardening and animal unit in our class. We have successfully incubated and hatched ducklings this year.

My Students

My students are hardworking kids who love to learn new things. We are part of a Title I school where most of the students fall below the low income poverty line. Despite their circumstances, they come to school each day ready to learn and be better students. My students love to read and be creative in their progression of learning. I like to have them branch out of the normal way of doing things and explore knowledge from different angles.

My Project

We study animals and gardening in our school. During the fall, we successfully incubated and hatched ducklings we named Mayflower and Plymouth since they were born the day after Thanksgiving. We had to return the equipment, but the students are very interested in incubating and hatching chicks, ducklings, and quails. This equipment would enable us to do that. I have someone I can get eggs from in the future, and a place to re-home the animals once they are too big to keep at school. The students really enjoyed watching the process and taking care of the ducks once they were born. I would like to continue to foster that responsibility.
