Help me give my students the stories that we can read as a class and then discuss together as well as calculators that they can use at home if we need to incorporate distance learning into the curriculum.
My students come from a diverse array of cultural, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. They are fun, high-energy and have worked so hard during distance learning due to Covid 19. I am hoping that I will see my students in the fall in person, but I'm also planning for remote teaching. I want my students to build on their success that they had in the spring and see themselves as true mathematicians. .
My students have demonstrated that they want to learn and they want to be successful, but we need additional resources.
I would love to have books that I can read to them either in person or remotely so they can experience some fun ways to use math. I also need additional calculators that the students would use at home or at school depending on how we are reaching our students in the fall.
My Project
I want my students to see themselves as successful mathematicians regardless of their age, gender, race or nationality. The stories will help to bring this concept to life combined with some great class discussions. I believe that these books will have the ability to connect my students to each other as well as the world around them, even if we are forced to implement a modified schedule or on-line learning. I still need to connect to my students and need them to connect with one another.
In the fall, my students will not be allowed to share supplies and therefore I will need additional calculators for the students to have their own.
I will have the flexibility for the students to take the calculator home especially if we need to incorporate distance learning once again.
