My Students
I have 27 vibrant kindergarten students who truly love to come to school. My class has a very diverse set of needs with half of the students speaking English as a second language. Each day is a new adventure in the world of learning. My students come to school to be fed, feel loved, and find their place in this world on top of learning how to be a citizen in today’s world. They enjoy the safety of the community we have built.
My Project
My students require specialized instruction to meet their needs for learning. Using a sensory approach will help them utilize multi-sensory materials that will promote learning. My students need sensory to help identify and regulate their emotions throughout the school day. These sensory materials allow my students to be hands-on and meet their sensory needs. Students will benefit from using kinetic sand by molding shapes and manipulating sensory material.
My students will thrive with all the added sensory materials throughout the school year that can be placed in the sensory tub.
The Kindergarten model in my school calls for different centers throughout the classroom and will allow my students who have sensory sensitivity to use paint using the paint sticks and the stampers allowing each student to experience the art center!
