This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are wonderful scholars. They are enthusiastic future world changers who need your helping hand. While they may live in a community with challenges they strive to improve themselves through hard work and optimistic outlooks. The school community is a diverse neighborhood in Philadelphia with wonderful families. Sadly, the area as been hit by opioid addiction and economic hardship. Many of my students rely on our school for both warm meals and a safe place to simply be a child. I want our classroom to go from a drab square to a warm, welcoming safe place overflowing with educational opportunity.
My Project
My students are extremely active and need help keeping out technology damage free. We recently received a generous donation of Kindle Fires, but we lack the resources to protect our tech from falls. The Fires are used daily and while students try to be safe accidents do happen as result we are requesting five kindle fire covers. Students use the cover-less Kindle to record themselves reading plays as well as create project based videos. Sometimes students have the Fires on hard surfaces and could easily damage our delicate resource.
Students need access to tech without fear of damage.
Student need to focus on solving math inquiries and reading information text not making sure tablets don’t shatter. We need to maintain our Fires so we can freely explore all this new technology has to offer.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
