Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Music Club is growing fast—and so is our need to store and protect our shared gear. This project will fund two lockable storage cabinets for the auditorium, where we’ve been transporting equipment to prepare for an upcoming performance. During most of the year, we rehearse in our fourth-floor classroom. But ahead of performances, we move to the stage—carrying amps, PA systems, mic stands, and cables between floors. These cabinets will save time, reduce strain, and help us focus on music rather than moving heavy gear.
We’re also requesting key tools that give students more independence, confidence, and control during rehearsals and performances.
Boom mic stands will allow students to sing and play instruments simultaneously—something we currently can’t do without another student physically holding the mic. A surge protector will help us safely run all our gear in an older auditorium with limited outlets. XLR and 1/4" cables will ensure microphones, keyboards, and other instruments stay connected during full-band rehearsals. A label maker will help us organize and track shared gear so it doesn’t get lost or mixed up.
As a Title I international school in the Bronx, our program helps amplify student voices that are often underrepresented in the performing arts. Our students are passionate, collaborative, and rising to every challenge with enthusiasm. Many are learning multiple instruments, writing songs, and helping lead rehearsals. Music Club provides a space for creative expression and leadership development. Every item requested supports performance readiness, student voice, and long-term sustainability.
