My Students

I teach a loving, energetic group of high school students at an urban school in the heart of Manhattan. Many are English Language Learners or have special needs, and all have a drive for learning and doing their best in school.

My students this year are 9th graders who are returning to my in-person mathematics classes after being fully remote for 18 months, and are now going to be adjusting to the new norms that come with the changes from the pandemic.

Through the challenges of remote learning, these students have stayed so positive, worked so hard, and are trying their best to appreciate school and take their education seriously. They have remained resilient and positive, and continue to exceed my expectations and make me proud.

My Project

This school year has been a transitional period for both my students and myself. My students (and I) are coming off of two years of being fully remote, and adjusting to life within a classroom again. I am also transitioning into a brand new job, at a brand new, wonderful school. Because of these transitions, the beginning of the year and this first semester involved a lot of "figuring it out." However, now we are finally in a routine and have figured out our rhythm as a class, and are ready to get organized and finish out the second half of the year stronger than ever

These basic supplies will help my students learn studying routines and basic organizational skills through keeping a folder of key notes and references as we progress throughout the remainder of the year.

This project is asking to supply each student with a folder that they will keep in the classroom to organize any important references we use on a daily basis. It also asks for copy paper, loose leaf paper, and glue sticks to help with creating guided notes for their notebooks. These tools will ultimately help students grow as organized individuals and help with my goal of fostering an environment that encourages students to be more self sufficient and utilize their notes and resources.
