My students need flexible seating options to help them gain the suggested 60 minutes of movement daily.

My Students
I teach at a Title I school where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast as well as lunch. Several of our students have difficult home situations which does not allow for much physical activity outside of school. Many are allowed to play computer or video games for hours instead of going outside to play.
When asked what was needed to become more active, several of my students said they would like options other than the traditional chair and desk combo.
My Project
My students asked for options other than the traditional desks. After researching and seeing options in other classrooms at our school, they wanted the standing desk and the balance ball chair.
My students are active and have difficulty remaining still in the traditional seating options provided.
By providing choices such as the standing desk, students can remain active while learning. Research shows the more the student is engaged the greater the learning experience.
Recess is only ten minutes per day and not nearly enough to met the suggested sixty minute daily amount of activity. Please help me help my students!
