Help me give my students the basic tools to be successful this year- folders, crayons, flexible seating. Studies have shown that when students have their own supplies, their grades, behavior, and classroom participation improve significantly.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
First off, many of my second graders come from families managing tight budgets. I work in a Title 1 school in Queens, NY and so resources aren’t always affordable for parents to provide their child with to begin and/or maintain a successful school year. They will be given necessary folders to help organize their class work. They will have access to flexible seating to ensure a more comfortable classroom environment while they read and/or write.
Secondly, donations don’t just buy school supplies—they send a very powerful message- “We believe in you.” Just as I believe in my students, you can too!
Believing in children makes them feel successful, and that in turn MAKES them become successful.
Lastly, when each one of my students is equipped with what they need, I can spend more time focusing on instruction and less time managing missing or shared materials.
