Second Grade Scientists at Work!

My students need scientific exploration activities to enhance their understanding of specific science topics such as energy, forces, matter, & the solar system.

My Students

Benjamin Franklin said that "an investment in knowledge pays the best interest." This is what you will be doing with your donation to our classroom. My students struggle to understand some very abstract scientific concepts that I currently have to teach them without concrete and interactive supplies

Our school is moving into its third year of existence.

We are a neighborhood school situated in a booming suburb in southeast Georgia. We having an enormous population of very diverse students. My class is a group of lively and curious second grade students within this ever-expanding K-8 school. Due to the school's rapid and unexpected growth over the past two years, teachers have had trouble receiving the much needed resources that they need. I am one of these teachers seeking-out resources to better explain scientific ideas, the revolution and rotation of planets within our solar system, through the use of physical models and fun/interactive activities.

My Project

My class needs an interactive model of the solar system, a class set of magnetic wands, a set of life cycle readers, various science bingo/fact finding/match-up games, and a solar system exploratory tub. Having these resources would only add to my delivery of scientific understandings such as the life cycles of various living organisms, the Earth and other planets orbiting the sun, demonstrating magnetic forces, and the phases of matter and their properties.

Your donations to our 2nd grade science supplies might be the difference between students mastering a scientific skill in their early childhood education years versus carrying scientific misconceptions throughout their later school years.

Please consider helping our cause.
