This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school, meaning at least 40% of the families in our school are considered low-income. The Title I policy is “committed to closing the achievement gap between low-income students and other students” as per the U.S. Department of Education.
Our school has some of the most creative, intelligent, and imaginative students around.
We are proud of the diversity in our school, which we tap into in order to learn about the world around us. We celebrate our similarities and our differences.
My Project
Libraries provide another space for children to learn and we would like to add extra space for learning. Students will be able to access this space because it will be right in our classroom. Providing our class with books that interest them is another way we plan to promote reading. Easier access to reading, and reading books they choose, create better learners. Also, having more books can help students take books home to read with their families.
Let's face it, we love new books!
We will get our class excited by purchasing new books in our library.
