My Students
Each day, 25 students walk in to my room ready to put their best foot forward to learn. These students look forward to coming to school and learning despite the many challenges they all face. Our school is located in one of the top dangerous and poverty-strucken cities in the United States. Although these students face many hardships, they deserve the best they can to give them the best chance to become the most they can be.
Our classroom is lacking the technology we need in order to give our students the best chance to succeed and progress the best they can.
Due to the different levels of reading and the majority of my students being considered "struggling readers", technology could increase the different levels and amount of books my students could read while improving their reading skills immensely.
My Project
Each day, our classroom participates in what we call Daily Five. This involves reading and writing to work up our skill and stamina in order to get on the level of reading we are supposed to hit and go even higher! With so many different levels of readers, it is very hard to have a library big enough to fill every student's needs. Because of the lack of technology, it is not possible for each students participate in all five parts of the Daily Five.
These six Kindles and cases will help our classroom to pick our books that interest our students will being on the appropriate level to help our students increase their ability to read.
By donating to our project, you will help our students grow a love for reading while increasing their skill.
By having access to an online library using these Kindles, our students will be able to participate in all parts of our Daily Five and will be able to grow into life long readers. Developing this love of reading will carry with them through adulthood, helping them to be the best they can be.
