My students LOVE to learn. They are excited every morning for the school day to begin. They would love to have laptops available in our classroom. The students often ask questions about what we are learning, and I would love to be able to send them to a laptop to look up the answer and learn more.
When I moved to Arizona, I was unsure what type of school I would end up teaching in.
What would the staff be like, what would the students be like, I wondered. I worried. I ended up choosing the best elementary school. I knew from the moment I walked on campus, this was the place for my son and me. Every member of the staff was friendly, open, and helpful. The students were wonderful! Well behaved, sweet, and generous. I fell in love with the school that first day, and I have loved it ever since.
My Project
Students in second grade will be able to use the laptops for a wide variety of lessons. Students will be able to do research for reports, look up weather patterns, read and listen to stories from around the world, develop bar graphs, write stories, and watch videos from outer space. The wonderful thing about the laptops is that its uses are infinite.
Currently, all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Their families cannot afford to have up-to-date computers or laptops. My students do not have the opportunity to travel. Having the laptops readily available would be life changing for my students. It would open up a whole new world for them. They would be able to virtually visit other countries, hear other languages, and learn about other cultures. It would be amazing!
