This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school daily ready to learn, many of them are unable to have their own library of books at home. The majority of of my students are Title I students, receiving free lunch. Most of them travel on a bus about an hour each way to attend our school. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.

The students in my class are working hard to become better readers and writers.

My goal is for them to take ownership of their learning and get excited to be an author and an illustrator!

My Project

Help my students complete their second grade memory books. My students write and illustrate their own memory books throughout second grade. Each month they publish a piece of writing and complete several monthly activities that are included in their books. Also included are pictures taken throughout the year that the students come up with creative captions and many art projects too. This book binder and supplies will help them "publish" their books and have a second grade keepsake forever! I have past students come to visit me years after being in my class and either bring their memory book to show me or tell me it's still on a special place on their bookshelf.
