My Students
I believe that making art supports students' different learning styles and fosters rich and enjoyable experiences that support them in expressing their ideas and feelings. Our school doesn't have an art teacher so I try to incorporate art during our regular classroom time.
I have 28 talented second graders who love to do projects.
My students are full of questions and come to school every day ready to be challenged. In our school in Brooklyn, 57% of the students receive free or reduced price meals. My students love to work individually and to collaborate with each other on projects. They are a wonderful community of second graders who deserve to have the best.
My Project
We are currently learning about New York City. We are visiting different places and talking about the history of the city. I would like to have paint, brushes, and paper so my students can create visual representations of what they've learned. The students could re-create some of the buildings and bridges that they've learned about and represent the city through their second grade eyes.
I want to create an environment where I can foster my students' creativity.
Having the right materials will help me create art projects to support all learning areas, including social studies.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
