My Students
I have been at my job for over 20 years. I love my job and my students. We are able to really get to know our students and act as their counselors, job coach, and teacher. Each student brings something great to the classroom and our goal is to watch them make and keep their goals.
Our program offers personalized, small group classroom instruction for students transitioning from high school to the adult world.
Students with IEPs can have extra time (through the year they turn 21) to get support and services in learning how to be a successful adult.
This half-day program supports students in their transition from high school to the adult world.
Students receive small group and personalized classroom instruction in getting and keeping jobs, becoming more independent, learning about finances, connecting with community resources, finding post-secondary college/training and completing high school requirements.
My Project
Our students are 18-21 Special Education students, are low income with not a lot of family support. They walk, take a bus, or are driven to school. They also walk up a hill to get to the lunchroom. Our weather is cold and rainy, so they come to class wet and cold. I would like to provide them with a temporary change of clothes so they are comfortable learning. Giving them each an umbrella will help keep them dry to and from school.
