My Project

As the Resource teacher and Team Leader for 7th grade, I work closely with students who have a wide range of learning needs, academic, behavioral, and social-emotional. My goal is to create a classroom and team environment where all students feel welcomed, supported, and motivated to learn. My students are truly special: they are resilient, curious, and full of potential. Many of them come to school carrying responsibilities and challenges far beyond their years. That’s why I want to make our space not only a place for learning but also a safe, calm, and fun environment where students can reset, recharge, and thrive.

This project will help meet students' needs both in and out of the classroom.

Flexible seating options, such as bean bags, give students the chance to work comfortably and independently, which improves focus and reduces anxiety. Outdoor sports equipment, such as soccer balls, volleyballs, and jump ropes, encourages movement, teamwork, and healthy peer interactions. They can be used as motivators and rewards. Indoors, magnetic tiles and LEGOs offer hands-on, calming activities that promote creativity and problem-solving. Finally, snacks and treats go a long way in supporting students who come to school hungry or need a quick boost to stay engaged. My goal is to support the whole child by giving them tools to feel physically comfortable, mentally engaged, and emotionally safe throughout the day.
