This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
All my students come from Spanish speaking families, I teach them in Spanish while building their English vocabulary and fluency. The majority of my students come from immigrant families.
The neighborhood is mostly Latino and with very close knit caring hard working families.
The school is a title 1 school and 100% of the students qualify for free lunch.
I enjoy working there and have worked in the same school for many years. I get students that are in college that come to visit and are always grateful that I was their teacher.
My Project
I want to get my students flexible seating. My little 5 year old's like to wiggle as any young child would. With wobble chairs and cushions they can be more comfortable to learn. If they can wiggle while sitting at the table or when seated on the carpet they can concentrate on the work at hand. Some students need this to be able to succeed. We need storage units to keep the classroom tidy and easily accessible for all students in the classroom. When we have comfortable students that can access materials easily it becomes a great place to learn.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
