My Project
As a third grade teacher at Rissler Elementary, I strive to create a learning environment where all students feel comfortable, focused, and ready to learn. However, our current classroom furniture is outdated, mismatched, and in many cases, no longer meets the needs of our growing learners. The desks and chairs are worn, wobbly, and not designed with today's students in mind. Many are too small or too large, making it difficult for students to sit properly and concentrate during lessons.
We are also in need of a horseshoe table with appropriate seating to support small group instruction.
This type of table is essential for guided reading, math intervention, and one-on-one support. It allows me to sit closely with students, provide immediate feedback, and foster meaningful interaction in a way traditional desks do not allow. Unfortunately, we currently lack this resource, limiting the effectiveness of our small group instruction.
With updated student desks, chairs, and a functional horseshoe table, our classroom can become a more inclusive, organized, and engaging space. New furniture would support better posture, focus, and collaboration—giving every child the opportunity to thrive academically and feel proud of their learning environment.
