This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the honor of working with a diverse group of students! Many of my students come from low-income homes and are considered at-risk.
My students' socioeconomic status shouldn't define them because their dreams and goals are important and achievable!
My Project
Seats for Scientists will fund flexible seating options for my 6th grade science students. Most of our classroom's current seating options are uncomfortable, rigid, and broken. Including options such as stools or cushions will allow students to choose their seat and location.
Studies show that flexible seating helps to drive student engagement in the classroom.
With more student choice and comfortability, learning science will become even more exciting. Science requires a lot of research, which usually means a lot of sitting.
