The flexible seating options I’m requesting will allow my students to choose seating that fits their personal learning style, promoting both comfort and engagement. Many of my students in special education thrive when they can move, shift positions, or even sit on the floor while they work. Traditional seating often doesn't allow for that level of comfort and mobility, which can make it harder for them to focus. By incorporating options like cushioned floor seats, a balance ball, and yoga ball chairs, students will be able to better regulate their bodies and improve their focus, which directly impacts their learning and overall participation.
The primary goal of this project is to create a classroom environment that is supportive, inclusive, and conducive to different learning needs.
I want to give my students the opportunity to choose seating that will help them focus, be comfortable, and feel empowered in their learning process. Additionally, I aim to reduce classroom distractions by allowing students to select their own space and seat. With the right seating, students will be able to be more engaged in lessons and take ownership of their learning environment.
My students are unique because they each have their own strengths, needs, and learning styles. Many of them face challenges such as ADHD, autism, sensory processing issues, or other learning disabilities. Despite these challenges, they are incredibly resilient and determined to succeed. They all have individual ways of processing information and responding to classroom activities. Flexible seating will allow them to take charge of their learning in a way that respects their personal needs and abilities. The diversity in their learning styles is what makes them so special—each child brings something unique to the classroom, and it's my job to make sure the environment meets them where they are.
