Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our 5th grade classroom, we use a carpeted meeting area to foster focus, collaboration, and meaningful discussion—keeping students away from the distractions of their desks. This space is essential for building a strong classroom community and engaging students in whole-group lessons.
However, as students grow, many find sitting on the carpet uncomfortable, making it harder for them to stay engaged during lessons.
By adding a perimeter of comfortable seating—such as low couches or soft seating options—around the carpet, we can create a more inviting, inclusive, and comfortable environment that supports their physical needs while maintaining the benefits of our meeting area.
Your support will help transform our classroom into a more student-centered, welcoming space where every learner can focus, participate, and feel at ease.
