Help me give my students who have challenges remaining still, the opportunity to continue to move while seated and attending lessons with these seats that help reduce anxiety and stress related to their disability.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have autism. Some have a common mental and physical consequence of autism familiarly called stimming--also known as self-stimulating behaviors or stereotypy.
Stimming is repetitive body movements or repetitive movements of objects.
In previous projects I have asked for "fidgets," which are objects often used by my students for this type of behavior. Stims can "provides sensory reinforcement or sensory stimulation to the individual, or the behavior may be used to regulate sensory input, either increasing stimulation or decreasing sensory overload. Another theory is that there is a brain dysfunction in the areas controlling these behaviors or that the behaviors produce endorphins in the nervous system."
Stims come in different intensities and types. They can be a body stim or an object stim. These chairs, more stationary then the balls alone, are good for my students who actively stim while attending lessons or activities. They will help them to focus more and get up less from their seats to increase or relieve their need for stimming. Though stims are usually not dangerous, they can be disruptive of many reasons, for instance students may move unaware of the physical environment or may make uncontrolled or exaggerated movements. These happen in my classroom. These chairs will provide a valuable tool to help in my classroom management.
