My Project
This is a flexible seating project. I already have some stools, but cushions will help to make them more comfortable. Add a hanging hammock chair and a wobble stool to the mix, and some of the fidgety kids will have other options. Chair bands also help to minimize distractions.
Students need to feel that the classroom is their room.
They need to be comfortable so they can focus on their work. They need to know that it is okay to have energy; they just need to be able to concentrate on their school work, too. I have seen other teachers have great success with the elastic chair bands, and everyone sees kids tipping their seats, so wobble chairs offer a safe option.
These kids come from low-income families and need a safe place to be comfortable. Many of these kids have environments at home that are not conducive to studying and completing work. They need every option available to get as much done while they are in school. They need to know that we do care about them.
