My Project
In our middle school special education classroom, we strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive. Our students often face unique behavioral and sensory challenges, and providing them with the right tools is essential for their success. This project seeks funding for flexible seating options and sensory items that will greatly benefit our learners.
Traditional seating arrangements can be limiting and uncomfortable for students with diverse learning needs.
Flexible seating allows students to choose their preferred seating options, whether it's a wobble chair, bean bag, or floor cushions. This autonomy promotes engagement and helps students focus better on their tasks. By enhancing comfort and choice, we can foster a more productive learning environment.
Sensory items play a crucial role in helping our students self-regulate and manage sensory overload. Items such as fidget tools, weighted blankets, and sensory bins will provide necessary support for students who may struggle with anxiety or attention challenges. Certain games and other activities can help students take a "brain break" when needed while still also building on social emotional skills during the school day. These tools can help them channel their energy positively and improve their overall classroom experience.
