I am blessed to be at an amazing school with the most fantastic 3rd graders.
They are excited, eager, and a delight to teach. My students come from different backgrounds and with different experiences which makes our learning environment rich with diversity. They learn from me and I learn from them.
My Project
The typical classroom is not ideal for all students. We tell them to sit still and be quiet, but in the end we want them to become free-thinking, independent individuals. These items would allow my students more flexibility in the classroom instead of sitting in stiff plastic seats all day. When students are given a choice of where to sit that is comfortable and physically stimulating, they are more engaged! I have already begun using pillows and clipboards, but my students deserve options with more stimulation.
Each of these seating options gives the students much needed stimulation, especially for ADD/ADHD students.
These materials will help me meet the different academic and physical needs of the students in my classroom. Also, it will give the students the option of choice, which is a powerful tool. My students will not only grow academically, but will flourish intrapersonally as they learn about themselves as learners.
