My Students
Our middle school has approximately 800 students. We are a diverse community school in a large school district. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds but all have a willingness to learn. Many of our teachers are innovators in their fields and are trying to accommodate the needs of all of our students.
My students are energetic and love to learn.
They are curious about the world around them. I would love to make my classroom more engaging to fit the needs of all of my students.
My Project
My students learn about the economy throughout the year as we study US History. Financial literacy is an important part of my curriculum as we talk about different times of depression and recession. Within those topics, the students will often work in groups to or pairs for collaborative learning. One example is when they collaborate together to compare the nation's debt just after the Revolutionary War to today's debt. They also do collaborative projects about economic differents between the North and South prior to the Civil War and the impact of the economy during wartime.
We are requesting new desks to help with easier mobility in the classroom.
Having desks that can be arranged easily into groups and pairs is more conducive to a collaborative environment. The students like having choices in where they sit, the type of desks and chairs they have, and working together. These new desks will make their learning more engaging as we continue to explore our American history.
Thank you for your support of my students and our classroom!
