My Students
I have a classroom full of fun-loving kids who are so inquisitive and eager to learn. My students have a wide range of abilities and very diverse needs, but we all get along so well. Our classroom community is a place where we are all accepted, honest, and safe.
Working at a Title I school means that many of my students lead challenging lives.
Every day I am surprised by how much these kids care for one another. I love helping my students find their voices as they learn how to overcome their own obstacles on their journey to change the world.
My Project
My sixth-grade students are very active, energetic, and mobile. They can have a hard time sitting for long periods in stiff and rigid classroom chairs, which is why I encourage my students to get up and move around so that they can collaborate with different groups and partners throughout the day. Recently, we were gifted 10 lap desks, and these have been a huge hit in my classroom. My students are very good at taking turns with them, but I am hoping that I will be able to give my students even more choices about what kind of seating they can choose from
