My Students

Second grade is awesome!!! The kids are old enough that we can do a lot of fun things together, but they're still young enough that they love school, love learning, and really add to the classroom culture that we create together.

At the beginning of the year there is a huge diversity of needs.

There are a few who still need to learn how to tie their shoelaces, a few who need to learn to spell their last names, and a few who have a hard time focusing on the tasks at hand. There are also a few students who are exceptional academically, or who have amazing talents already. This year is looking a lot like 2nd grade usually does...a wide variety of abilities and personalities that are eager to get smarter and have fun.

My Project

Over the course of the pandemic, students have been asked to monitor their own space and interact with other people less and less. Due to this need for less interaction and more social distancing, I would love to have seat sacks that can help students organize and store their school supplies. Seat sacks will enable each student to keep all of the relevant supplies right at their desks, and it will minimize the need for students to get out of seats and move around the classroom (possibly spreading germs and/or the COVID virus).
