Seat Sacks for Savvy Scholars

My students need 24 seat sacks in order to help them organize their learning materials so that they focus on learning and not worry about desk clutter.

My Students

Books, pencils, and crayons - oh my! It is tough learning to stay organized with all the materials necessary as it is. However, to do so without any desk compartments to store all the essentials is even more challenging. The focus should stay on learning, not on "Dude, where's my pencil?"

I have a sprightly and eager bunch of 22 kindergarteners whose curiosity is insatiable and whose energy is undeniable.

They make the most of any situation and most definitely keep me on my toes with all of their questions and random wonderings. Since the beginning of the school year, I have seen them grow as learners, as community members, and as teachers themselves. Our school is located in a culturally rich, yet economically deprived neighborhood, with a majority of the students being eligible for free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are school-dependent youngsters - meaning much of the academic and social education they receive comes directly from the time spent in and opportunities presented to them from school and in the classroom. Any resources that are provided for them are definitely utilized to their maximum.

My Project

Providing each of my students with their own seat pocket will minimize the clutter on the tops of their desks and ultimately keep them focused on the learning tasks at hand by keeping them from the distractions of having so many tempting pencils, crayons, etc. on their desks to tinker with. Having the ability to keep learning materials organized and out of sight until it is necessary to use them will not only maintain their focus, but will also provide them with the opportunity to be responsible for keeping their learning materials in good condition.

Having this project fulfilled will provide my students with the opportunity to be responsible for their own learning materials and keep their focus on learning about mammals versus reptiles as opposed to, "How did my crayon box go from 16 crayons to only 7 crayons?" The responsibility of caring for their own things through the seat pockets will also transfer into learning to properly care for and organize their belongings throughout their lives.

Your donations are invaluable because of this!
