This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My elementary school is a Title 1 school where 93% of the students receive free or reduced cost lunches.

71% of our population is Hispanic with different levels of English language proficiency.

My kindergarten students thrive when instruction include lots of explicit modeling and visual cues. They are very eager to learn. Unfortunately, most lack enough exposure to language and vocabulary at home. Their families want them to grow as learners and rely heavily on the school family to provide the students and parents with the tools necessary for academic success. Instruction in my classroom should accommodate the students' different academic, social and emotional needs.

My Project

When supplies and materials have a place in the classroom, instructional time is not wasted. Seat sacks will keep my students organized and the classroom free of clutter. Leaving their tables clean and open to do their work. It also makes cleanup much easier. Therefore, even Kindergarten students can be in charge of keeping their classroom clean and efficient. In addition, by notebooks, folders, books and pencil boxes being kept right there on the back of their chair, learning can occur without major disruptions. Seat Sacks will also give them a personal space, of their own, to keep their prized belongings.
