Seat Sacks and Simple Supplies

Help me give my students seat sacks in which to keep their personal items clean and safe. Each seat sack will hold a student's pencil box and journal separate from others to assure safety. Every class needs paper!

My Students

This year has brought changes to our classroom that we could have never anticipated. My students expected that we would be together, learning and laughing, until the end of the year. They went home that Friday afternoon, with a couple of workbooks and ready to do some "homework" for a week or two. My 24 students are honest and trusting, believing that I, as their teacher, will do everything I can to give them every possible opportunity to maximize their potential for present and future success. Their school year changed overnight, but the learning continued. This coming year brings even more challenges to their education!

More than half of my students are living in low-income households, and the same percentage are first-generation U.S.

citizens. They have watched how hard their parents work to provide them with a safe, comfortable home in a country that values freedom and imagination. As they now work from home, these same families now provide an integral part of their child's 1st-grade education.

My Project

As the world has changed, simple supplies have become like gold! Looking to this coming school year, even basics like copy paper may need to be supplied by each teacher for their students. Conservation has always been important, but copies will still need to be made. And the importance of students keeping their personal supplies separate from others is more important than ever!

Our children are resilient, but paper is not something they can do without in school!

Neither is the confidence in knowing their journal and pencil box are safely contained within their own seat sack. Returning a sense of normalcy is vital to healthy development and continued educational success for my students.
