My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/ poverty school district, my students are bombarded with challenges that interfere with some progress in the classroom. However, my students, regardless of what life throws at them, come ready to learn.
My students are talented, fun, and very creative with their hands.
I am greeted with a hug which in turn validates the reason why I accepted this position. I recognize their good works and acknowledge their presence from the moment they enter the room. If I could express more about my students, I would say that I am privileged and honored to teach each one of them.
The students actually inspired me to complete this project about getting them a mini iPad and tablet for research. The reason for the project was to make a change that would impact instruction for my students.
Having a mini IPad and tablet would mean that they could collect and add funds to deposit and withdraw in the classroom store. I believe this would be a great source of learning in our classroom.
My Project
In my first grade class, students struggle everyday with counting money and change. Students just do not "get it". We review the coins, their values, and different ways to make different amounts of money. My students need a new, fun, interactive way to learn and review coins and money amount. They will be able to learn facts about money, look at costs of different items, watch educational videos on Brainpop, Jr., and engage in countless math apps to fine tune their financial understanding.
By having a mini iPad and tablet in our classroom, my students will be able to practice counting and identifying coins in small groups.
There are so many apps that are available that will help my students gain the financial literacy that they need to survive and be successful in our world. My students will benefit greatly from your help, so thank you in advance for enhancing financial literacy using technology. The mini iPad and tablet will provide students with a creative way to master their financial awareness.
