To most of our children, places like Sea World are only seen on TV. They are familiar with the visual images that are available to them through their televisions and Internet. This field trip would give them the opportunity to experience ocean life through hands-on, real-life demonstrations.
While many of our children possess the knowledge of ocean life, most of them would not have the opportunity to enhance it through the hands-on experiences offered at Sea World.
This field trip will guide them through many aspects of ocean life. They will take their prior knowledge from the classroom and expand upon it by partaking in the guided tours, speak with the Sea World scientists and interacting up close and personal with the animals.
My Project
Although our district allows grade levels to utilize the school buses for field trips, Sea World is unattainable. Due to budget restrictions taking school buses to San Antonio would not be financially possible due to mileage and fuel costs. Charter buses offer us the opportunity to take our children on this once in a life time learning experience.
Most children read books about ocean life, look at pictures about ocean life, and even watch clips about ocean life.
We would love to give our children this amazing learning experience by taking what we have learned in the classroom and letting them live and breathe it!
