Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are aspiring doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals. They come into my biomedical science class with big dreams and an eagerness to learn real-world medical skills. But before they can dive into the hands-on labs they love — from microbiology experiments to clinical simulations — they need to master the most important skill of all: lab safety.
The materials I’m requesting — Dawn dish soap, isopropyl alcohol, powder-free gloves, petri dishes, clothes hangers, and a clothes rack — will help us create a safe, organized, and professional lab environment.
The soap and alcohol are essential for keeping surfaces and equipment clean, the gloves protect my students’ hands and prevent contamination, and the petri dishes allow them to practice sterile techniques. The clothes rack and hangers will hold our lab coats, helping students develop the professional habits they’ll need in medical and research settings.
These supplies will let my students experience what it feels like to work in a real clinical or research lab. They’ll learn to think like healthcare professionals, following proper protocols and putting safety first. With your help, we can transform our classroom into a place where students build not only knowledge, but the habits and confidence they’ll carry into future medical careers.
