Fifth grade is an important grade because it is when they start to become individuals and really begin to think about who they want to become. They may not be ready to choose a career path, but are deciding if they are going to give it their all to do well in school, sports, and friendships. My students give it their all, all day, every day! Technology helps me motivate them!
Unfortunately, our school receives very little funding for resources like technology and technology-related supplies.
We do the best we can to share among classes, but the continuous use of technology, daily, will help them become more proficient and motivated. Help me, help them!
My Project
These chromebooks and 3D printing pens and plastic will help my students bring their stories to life and share them with the world. Students will create key scenes and characters using 3D pens, molds, and plastics as an inspiration for their creative writing.
After sparking their imagination through 3D printing, my students will write their stories on Chromebooks using Google Docs and illustrate them using Chrome Extensions such as Freebird and including photos of their 3D creations before reciting and sharing them through Screencastify.
Publishing their stories on Freebird and recording their stories through Screencastify will allow my students to share their stories with classmates or even the world through Google Drive or YouTube. Students will even have the opportunity to get their writing published in print if they wish. Students will be able to provide feedback to each other through collaboration and celebration.
